"How do creators actually get paid?" is the most common question we get. The honest answer: not from one source but from four that stack on top of each other. This guide explains each income stream, what it realistically pays, what you need to unlock it, and a 90-day plan to get there.
The four income streams
| Stream | How it pays | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Ad revenue | Per 1,000 monetized views (RPM) | Channels with steady views |
| Paid memberships | Monthly, you set the price | Loyal, niche audiences |
| Viewer gifts | Coins sent during streams and in chat | Live streamers, community channels |
| Brand deals | A fixed fee per video or campaign | Channels with a clear niche |
1. Ad revenue (RPM)
Ads run before your videos and inside the Shorts feed. You are paid for every 1,000 monetized views — views where an ad was actually shown. The rate (RPM) depends on the viewer's country, the topic and the season. Long videos usually earn more per view than Shorts, but Shorts bring far more views, so most channels combine both.
On Facetiv, earnings per video are visible in Studio → Earnings, and payouts can be requested in USD or your local currency.
2. Paid memberships
Memberships are a monthly subscription to your channel. You create tiers with perks: early access, members-only streams, a badge in chat, behind-the-scenes posts. The price is yours to set. One thousand true fans paying a small monthly amount is a more stable income than millions of random views.
Keep the first tier cheap and the perk simple (a badge + early access). Add a higher tier only when members ask for more.
3. Viewer gifts
During live streams and in chat, viewers send gifts that arrive in your wallet as coins. Gifts are driven by interaction: say the viewer's name, answer their question, celebrate the gift on air. Streams with an active host earn several times more in gifts than silent ones. See how to start live streaming without OBS.
4. Brand deals and the ads cabinet
Advertisers run campaigns through the Facetiv Ads cabinet (CPM, CPV or CPC) and partner with popular channels directly. A channel with a clear niche — cooking, cars, English lessons, tech reviews — gets offers much earlier than a general "lifestyle" channel, even with fewer followers.
Monetization requirements on Facetiv
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| Followers | 5,000 |
| Watch time | 4,000 hours in the last 365 days, or 10,000,000 Shorts views in the last 90 days |
| Public videos | At least 3 in the last 90 days |
| Account age | 30 days |
| Channel description | At least 50 characters |
Once you qualify, apply in Studio → Monetization; review takes 1–3 business days. The full rules are on the creator page.
A 90-day plan to reach monetization
- Days 1–7: set up. Avatar, cover, a 50+ character description, links. Pick one niche and one upload day.
- Days 8–30: volume. Two long videos per week plus a Short every day. Use the video SEO checklist on every upload.
- Days 31–60: live. Live streaming unlocks after 30 days — a weekly stream with a fixed time builds a core community.
- Days 61–90: double down. Analytics shows your top 20% of videos; make more of those. Open a first membership tier so fans can support you.
Mistakes that delay the first payout
- Re-uploading other people's content — fingerprint systems catch it, and the video is never monetized.
- Clickbait titles that do not match the video — low watch time kills recommendations.
- Changing niche every week — the algorithm cannot find your audience.
- Ignoring the chat and comments — community is what turns views into memberships and gifts.
Never buy followers or views. Fake engagement is detected, it blocks monetization, and it can get the channel banned.
Summary
Ads pay for reach, memberships pay for loyalty, gifts pay for live interaction, brands pay for a niche. Build all four and the income stops depending on a single algorithm. Create a channel and start with the 90-day plan above.
